Active sunspot region 720 is the large sunspot shown in the above image. This region produced many significant solar flares and a few coronal mass ejections (CME's) that hit the earth and increased the geomagnetic field level to severe storm status.

This white-light image was taken using the Baader AstroSolar Filter ND 5 and a Custom Scientific 3nm Hydrogen-alpha filter in series with a Lumicon Neutral Density ND25 filter.
